  16. Minimum BIOS Requirements:

  18. Local BIOS 1.21L or later for Series 15, 44 and 441
  19. Local BIOS 1.00L or later for Series 70.

  23. EISA Configuration options(Series 15,44,441 and Series 70 EISA mode)

  26. 1.    Set "Auto Selection Timeout for Non-Existent Devices" option to [DISABLED]
  27.  
  28. Required if the cartridge is NOT present at SCSI Controller POST completion, 
  29. and therefore the state of the option "Removable Harddisk Caching" WILL be 
  30. [DISABLED].

  32. 2.    Set "Target Allocation for DOS Sequentially from ID 0" option to [ENABLED]
  33.  
  34. 3.    Set the SCSI ID of the Removable Media device so that there is a gap 
  35. between the SCSI IDs. For example:

  37.             SCSI HD @ ID 0 and Removable device @ ID 2 or 3,4,5,6.

  55. "Removable Harddisk Caching" Requirements

  57. 1.    The Block size must be 512 bytes per block; running "UT13.EXE" 
  58. version 1.8 or later will confirm.
  59.  
  60. 2.    The SCSI must report itself as a Removable Media Device, not Optical 
  61. or WORM, and can be confirmed by viewing the "DEVICE" information under 
  62. "UT13.EXE" version 1.8 or later.

  64. 3.    Set the EISA Configuration option "Removable Harddisk Caching" to [ENABLED]"

  66. Change Switch SW2-4 on the Series 70 (ISA Mode) to "ON".

  69. ASPIHDD.SYS
  70.  
  71. The Aspihdd.sys driver that is shipped with the AMI SCSI Controller has limited 
  72. support for removable devices.  The current Aspihdd limitations are such that 
  73. the partition information must be identical in all the cartridges used. This 
  74. restriction will be lifted in subsequent releases.
  75.   
  76. In the interim, if you are using removable devices, we recommend that you use 
  77. the drivers which are supplied by the manufacturer of those devices.
